Policies

All staff and students of the school are required to adhere to UNSW ICT policies, procedures and guidelines. In addition to UNSW policies, any policies and guidelines specific to the school will be posted here as they become available.

Network use policy

  • No one is allowed to use peer to peer file sharing software such as Kazaa, Bittorrent etc. If you believe you have a legitimate use of these distribution methods, it will be assessed and allowed only pending Head of School approval.
  • Network usage should be for work purposes only. i.e. no personal use of programs such as Skype, streaming radio/music/movies, downloading of game demos, movie trailers, etc.
  • Personal notebooks (private machines not purchased through the School) will no longer be allowed on the network due to the large costs associated ($200/yr). Exceptions will be made for brief term allowances if required for experiments, after supervisor approval.
