Moving Ahead – Centre of Research Excellence in Brain Recovery offers some great initiatives for students
Posted 11 August 2016
The Moving Ahead Centre of Research Excellence (CRE) in Brain Recovery, established in 2012, is the first centre worldwide to take a multidisciplinary, multisite approach to addressing the psychosocial rehabilitation of individuals following traumatic brain injury (TBI). Funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council, Moving Ahead brings together key experts from a range of partner universities, hospitals and research institutes in Australia and overseas.
The UNSW School of Psychology’s Skye McDonald is one of the Chief Investigators at Moving Ahead and together with her team of experts, the Centre aims to improve outcomes for those with a TBI. They aim to achieve this by developing empirically-supported treatments, addressing deficits in social skills, communication, mood, fatigue, self-awareness and self-regulation.
Moving Ahead CRE is offering students some great initiatives to get ahead with their research.
1. Moving Ahead CRE Seed Grants
Moving Ahead Centre for Research Excellence in Brain Recovery is currently offering two seed grants worth $2000. The aim of these grants is to provide some additional assistance to two outstanding individuals who are currently undertaking, or are about to embark on, promising research that is consistent with the overall goals of Moving Ahead.
The grants are open to research projects in a CRE-related discipline such as psychology, neuropsychology, occupational therapy, or speech pathology. Each applicant will be assessed on the basis of project merit, the project’s consistency with the overall goals of Moving Ahead, and the project’s ability to progress our knowledge or understanding of psychosocial issues in TBI. Consideration will be given to academic merit, research experience and previous research success.
Further information regarding the grants can be found on the Moving Ahead website: http://www.moving-ahead.com.au/?page_id=1019
Closing date is Wednesday 31st August 2016.
